FRANKSTON ART CENTRE

Designed by renowned Australian architect, Daryl Jackson, the Centre is a landmark building in one of the fastest growing cities in Melbourne.

In 2004, over 220,000 people attended events, performances and workshops at the Centre.

The Frankston Arts Centre is an iconic landmark in one of Melbourne's fastest growing areas. The Centre receives approximately 250,000 visitors through its doors each year, to attend performances and functions and to perform on stage. Over 50% of these people come from outside the Frankston municipality and the Centre has an increasing market share of residents from the Mornington Peninsula and Westernport regions, as well as from Bayside suburbs north to Melbourne CBD.

Frankston Arts Centre is a business unit of the Frankston City Council and receives an annual budget subsidy as part of Council's operations. The Centre strives to be as accessible to members of the community as is possible. Many local schools, community arts groups and artists use the facility each year. A subsidised community rate is provided to all community hirers.

The Centre celebrates it's 10th anniversary in 2005. In this time, it has established a top level reputation within the Victorian arts community. It is one of the largest metropolitan and regional arts centres in the state and attracts a significant number of commercial productions through its doors each year.

Facilities
The FAC houses an 800 seat theatre, with full stage, fly tower and professional technical and staging equipment.
There is also a Function Centre which can seat up to 500 and which plays host to a range of events - including corporate & community expos, seminars, gala dinner dances and awards ceremonies. The Function Centre comprises two rooms (which can be opened up to form one large room) with expansive views across the bay. There is a full commercial kitchen. The Function Centre is currently run by a contracted catering company.
The 'creative arts space', Cube 37, is housed in a purpose-built building adjacent to the FAC. It centres around a large, adaptable studio performance space, with flexible seating for up to 200 people, and also houses a wet studio, meeting rooms, a new media suite and two exhibition galleries. Cube 37 hosts a renowned New Media program, with digital art displayed throughout the year in the Glass Studio - a large glass-fronted exhibition space with street frontage. Cube 37 also provides much of the Centre's community access with workshops, exhibitions and youth arts projects running throughout the year.
The FAC also has several meeting spaces and studios available for hire.
